Interconnection standards provide the recommended methods and best practices for connecting PV and other distributed generators to the electric grid. Net metering is an economic arrangement with the electricity provider that allows customers to sell the excess electricity generated from the renewable energy sources to the utility at the same rate as the rate charged for the electricity supplied by the utility.
